We finally made a decision about where to go after graduation: Boston. It's exciting to finally know that we have a place to call home after not knowing our destiny would be after graduation for so long. I was beginning to think we would just be stuck here in Rexburg because it is the comfortable choice...but we finally decided to expand our horizons. Even though I grew up in Boston, it'll be a different world to be back there, graduated and married. I'm not really sure what to expect, but I feel ready to dodge the curve balls life decides to throw my way. Thus, on either Monday or Tuesday, Chris and I will start our 40-hour long drive from Rexburg, Idaho to Boston, Massachusetts. Our goal is to make it there before Saturday afternoon for Nessa's wedding. It seems like big things are happening everywhere we turn.
Now, while starting a new life is very exhilarating...I cannot express how much I hate moving. I've moved a lot throughout my life...in fact, just in high school, I moved over five different times. Moving has always been a natural part of life for me; but this move has exhausted me. Every other time I've had to move, I had my mother's help. I didn't ever really have to carry heavy weights, and I definitely never gave organizing boxes a fleeting thought...WOW, this has been an eye opening experience. I never realized how much stuff we had until I started packing it up (we actually bought four bins at Wal-Mart thinking that one would be enough for each section of our little apartment). I ended up using all four just on books from our living room. Suddenly, our tiny one bedroom doesn't feel so small. My house is a mess, and my OCD Monica cleanliness-instincts have started kicking in.
On the upside, I've had a lot of down time since graduation. I finally finished watching the last season of Heroes and caught up on a lot of the movies and reading I've postponed experiencing while in college. It's been nice to not worry about homework, and to prepare for my trip to India coming up in September. I've been brushing up on my Hindi, and I felt like I was getting pretty far, but then I decided to watch a Bollywood film and realized I've still got a long way to go. But who knows? Maybe I'll leave India conversational in a new language, which is very exciting for me. I also finally booked my flight ticket to India, which makes it even more real, and realized that I have a pretty long layover in London. I'm very excited about this...and increasingly excited about India.
